Statewide projects

A project to procure a new Advanced Traffic Management Software (ATMS) package that will be deployed as a standard platform in all traffic management centers (TMCs) in the state is nearing the end of the planning stage. An RFP should be ready for release in early 2008. This project is a collaborative effort between MDOT and Michigan Information Technology (MDIT). Whereas past ITS deployments in the state have been built on separate communications networks and platforms, basing the new ATMS on MDIT policies and standards will help it to keep pace with evolving technology improvements and upgrades. While this approach has required both agencies to work together in new ways, it promises to result in a software procurement that meets the current and future needs of the state for many years to come.

The RFP is planned for release in January 2008. A selection is anticipated for spring.
